Riding lawn mower

Well, like I said in the shed post, since the shed is done, the lawn mower is now in the back yard with a place to stay. Jonathan worked hard to get the shed done so that he could use his riding mower in the back yard this year, instead of having to use the push mower. This will cut his yard work in half because he won't have to push move about 1/4 of an acre. We also transplanted all the bushes from a center section of the yard to the outside edges of the yard to make it easier to mow. Lots of work done this April outside, but we are coming to the hot season and there won't be much more to be done outside until the weather cools off.

Finished Shed

Well, the shed is done. At least the outside is anyway. Jonathan still wants to put shelving up in the shed, but that will have to come later. He has transplanted all of the bushes that were in front of the shed to the side of the shed and now he has easy access to get his riding lawn mower in and out. He worked hard and now he will be able to clean out his garage of the yard equipment and use the garage for car stuff.

Brownie - the new puppy

Well, we waited eight weeks and found Wendy's all time favorite dog, a chocolate lab. She has wanted one since she was in High School. She was looking online at one of the many rescue organizations in Houston and found this little girl. She is 11weeks old and already spayed. We named her Brownie, obviously after her color. She is very mild mannered, at least so far, and is learning the household routine slowly. The toy that is in one of the photos was a toy that she picked out at the petstore. She walked all the way around the store with this toy. It is her new favorite thing.

Spring Break

Jonathan and Wendy went to Galveston for a two day get-away during Wendy's spring break from work. It was just what the doctor ordered, relaxation. We had fun visiting sites, walking the beach and just relaxing. I think we may have found a new place to get away too.

Shed Update

I thought I would give you a shed update. I don't have any pictures, but very soon you will be able to see it completed. The progress has continued. Jonathan has finished the siding, caulking, put the tar paper on the roof and all the other little details that need to be done. The next step is to prime and paint it and then to put the shingles on. Then comes Jonathans most anticipated part, clearing out his garage of shed stuff and re-gaining control of his garage for the cars.

The man closet

We took the closet in the loft and changed it into Jonathan's man closet. Hey it may not be much, but he does have a three car garage outside. The loft has kind of become his man room, but the closet is truly his. He measured, painted, cut, trimmed, and finally installed all the boards to hold all of his music cds, his stereo stuff and car models. This was our major project for the month of February. It only took one year in the making to get the money. We hope to have many more projects and renovations, so be on the lookout.

The shed

Ok, so we haven't posted much recently, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work. We received approval from the HOA to go ahead with our shed project. So for the last two or three weeks we have worked on and off on building the 10x14 shed. Pictures will be posted soon, but of course we can't post all of them until we delete some pictures off of the cameral currently. The current status of the shed is: the floor is down, the side studs are up, the roof OSB board is down and all that is left is to put the siding up, build a door, and put the shingles on. Then comes the painting and trimming, but hey at least Jonathan will have his garage back because this will allow us to put the tractor and yard tools in the shed instead of the garage. Hopefully, we will get it done soon, but the weather has been a factor lately too. For some reason we are getting a ton of rain....hmmm.
