Connie's
As is normal in our house. We occasionally head to Connie's, and if you live in NW Harris County, Houston, you know why. It has the best frozen custard in the area. Well, our dog is fully aware of Connie's now too. One time awhile back we decided to head out for just a drive. Well, we decided to take Brownie (dog) along. She loves car rides. You just mention the work ride and she is all over the place she gets so excited. While on this ride, we decided to go through the drive through at Connie's on our way home. The lady who was going to give us our order at the window saw the dog and asked if she wanted a torch. We asked what it was and she said a mini cone with vanilla custard on it. We said sure. Well, we were never to live it down. Our dog now knows the term ride and torch. If we mention them both, she can not contain herself in her seat on the ride over until she has gotten one. This shows her enjoying one not that long ago. She sits patiently, not so much, in the car and waits for Jonathan to come back with her torch and our treats. She then eats it just like you and I would, one lick at a time until she gets to the cone and then she bits it. She is such a silly dog, and we spoil her rotten. So much so that she is now on a diet because she has gained 8lbs in about six months. NO! we do not go to Connie's that much. Usually, one a quarter or so.
Kitten visit
I don't remember when this summer, but it was probably August sometime, we had a visitor. We noticed that our dog and the neighbor dog where barking at the corner of both of our yards. Every time either of them would go outside they would bark. So, I went to the corner to see what I could find. Nothing. Then I sent Jonathan the next day, Nothing. So, finally on the third day we found this little thing sitting in one of the bushes just off the corner of the yard. She was flea infested, so we bathed her and gave her treatment, then we took her to the vet, after we couldn't find a shelter or anyone to take her. She appeared to be healthy and they gave her the first set of shots. After the vet trip, Jonathan took her to Petco to buy more kitten food, since we don't have a kitten anymore and talked to a employee there. She couldn't take the cat, but knew someone who would. So after two weeks of having the joy of a crazy kitten around, we found her a home. This was very good news, because the last thing our house needed was another animal. One dog and one cat are enough for this house. At least right now.

Doggie dirt
Ok, so it has been awhile, but life has gone on and I just haven't gotten around to updating the blog. So here is one of the latest antics from our doggie. It was a Saturday, rainy, cold, and our dog, who typically doesn't like to be outside in the rain was willing and able to go outside. My thought was, cool, I don't have to entice her to go out and do her business. So about 2 hours later, I go to let her in and she has mud on her paws. Didn't think much about it, due to the fact that if she was walking in the mulch around the yard, she would have some mud on them. Wiped her paws clean and let her in the house. Then the evening came. It had stopped raining by this point, but the ground was soaked. So I let her out again and she was more than eager to go outside. Again, didn't think anything about it. UNTIL...at 9pm, I went to let her back in. She was no where to be found. I whistled and I could here her, but couldn't see her. Then out of the darkness she comes running. Instead of my dog being a nice dark brown color, she was a light brown dirt color. Mud all down one side. My prissy dog was covered in mud. She had dug a hole into the neighbors yard and found three rawhide chews and my assumption is she was going to bring them back her or just sit overthere and chew on them. I have no idea where the neighbors dog was at this point in time. I am assuming inside. So, she got banished to her kennel in the house for the night. The next morning we got up, went to church, then came home, filled the hole, gave the dog a bath and cleaned the dirt from her kennel and the carpet. Oh the joys! Of course we caught it all on camera, so enjoy the pictures.

Poor doggy
Well, it had to happen some time or another. It finally happened last night, she just couldn't resist chasing the little black kitty with the white stripe down its back. So, now she stinks. Poor Brownie was outside last night and I am inside going over adoption papers to see what we still need to get done, when there is this sudden over-whelming smell. I am thinking that something is on fire or someone is BBQ'ing something nasty. Then I head outside and I know that it was a skunk. You can smell it. Brownie is running around the yard through the sprinkler and rubbing her face and body on anything that she can get next to. Now if you know anything about my dog, she is not a water dog. So for her to be running through the sprinkler means that the skunk got her right in the face. So, we are on bath four of tomato sauce. We tried the vinager and baking soda trick, that didn't work, but we may try it again if the tomato sauce still doesn't work. I had to remove all of my clothes and through them in the wash immediately, because like I said she was rubbing on everything and that included me when I stepped outside. Thankfully, my clothes survived. My house still smells a little like skunk, so I am going to thoroughly clean it today, change filters all of that good stuff. Well, I am off to go wash the tomato sauce off of my dog. Oh the joys!!! Can't wait for kids. :)

Yogurt Cup
Ok, so it has been awhile. There has been stuff going on and we have had a lot of fun with Brownie our dog. She has developed a fond taste for my yogurt cups in the morning. She will follow me around or sit quietly while I finish the cup. She has also developed a fondness for the pudding cups and the fruit cups for our lunches. Unfortunately due to the fact that we are at work eating lunch, she doesn't get these cups much. Anyway, besides all of this we have finished the kitchen except for some small details that outside visitors would not notice. We are so excited and will be posting those pictures soon. In the meantime enjoy the pictures of Brownie and her Yogurt cup.

Brownie and the turtle
This last week, I looked out the window to find Brownie had something in her mouth. Not unusual, but I figured I had better find out what it was. It was a turtle. Thinking that she has probably killed it, I put it in a bucket and waited to see if it was alive or not. After awhile, I heard noise coming from the bucket and realized the turtle was still alive. I moved the turtle to one of our recycle bins and then watched Brownie react to this new thing. Enjoy!! We have since returned the turtle to the bayou where he came from. I hear it is common after a heavy rain to get turtles coming up from the bayou.

Waldo and the Toad
The adventure of the morning. Jonathan went out to go running and upon stepping outside he found a toad swimming in the dogs water bowl. So he picked it up and brought it inside to show me. It proceeded to jump out of his hands onto the stairs where it decided to climb. This got Waldo, our strictly indoor cat, interested. So up the stairs we went until Waldo finally got in front of the toad and got a really good look at it. We let them play for a little bit together before taking the toad back outside, this time to the front yard. We'll never know if Waldo wanted to play or eat!

Brownie - the new puppy
Well, we waited eight weeks and found Wendy's all time favorite dog, a chocolate lab. She has wanted one since she was in High School. She was looking online at one of the many rescue organizations in Houston and found this little girl. She is 11weeks old and already spayed. We named her Brownie, obviously after her color. She is very mild mannered, at least so far, and is learning the household routine slowly. The toy that is in one of the photos was a toy that she picked out at the petstore. She walked all the way around the store with this toy. It is her new favorite thing.
