So into week four we went. We have a lot of stuff complete, such as, countertops, light fixtures, staining of all cabinets - excluding doors, painting, texturizing, and we have a microwave installed. We still need to put in the backsplash, finish staining the doors, and tile, but hey we are over half way done. I do have to say that there was one unexpected surprise in this project. The countertops had just been installed and we were joking about how the refrigerator was the only appliance left that was white. Just our luck...the refrigerator starting going out. So, since we figured it was the compressor a expensive part, we bought a new one to match the rest of the appliances. Thank you to Linda for her help on what brand to purchase. So Jonathan will have to pick up a few more shifts at work to pay for that little expense, but at least we got a screaming deal. Thanks for all the encouragement from all of you. We look forward to this project being called done!!!

Brownie and the turtle
This last week, I looked out the window to find Brownie had something in her mouth. Not unusual, but I figured I had better find out what it was. It was a turtle. Thinking that she has probably killed it, I put it in a bucket and waited to see if it was alive or not. After awhile, I heard noise coming from the bucket and realized the turtle was still alive. I moved the turtle to one of our recycle bins and then watched Brownie react to this new thing. Enjoy!! We have since returned the turtle to the bayou where he came from. I hear it is common after a heavy rain to get turtles coming up from the bayou.

Kitchen update
Thought I would give an update on how the kitchen is coming along. We have the walls/soffits torn down and built up that need to be done. We have also moved the island around to the area that we want and we have hired a person to install our countertops. The deadline is on now though. The countertops are being installed next Thursday so that means we need to finish the painting on the walls around the cabinets, staining the cabinets, texturizing the ceilings, and putting wallboard on the wall where the new backsplash will go. We have to put new wallboard where the old backsplash tile was because when removing it, we tore up the old drywall. The new backsplash won't adhere to broken drywall. There is a lot to do and Jonathan works every other day for the next two weeks. It will be crazy but if need be we can move the countertop installation back. Then once we get all that done, I will be working on staining the cabinet doors and Jonathan will be working on tiling the floor. Then the only thing left will be to install a microwave over the stove and the kitchen will be complete. The countdown is on, I only have two weeks before I go back to school so lets see if we can get it done. I will keep you posted.

Kitchen demo project
Arizona Vacation
This month we went to Arizona for a vacation. It was really to get in touch with friends that we haven't seen in awhile. Jonathan and I were both able to get together with friends for lunch on the first day that we were there and then on Saturday we were able to get together with the Handley gang for dinner and games. On Monday we went up to Wendy's dads house in Prescott Valley, along with Lyle, to help her dad hang his upper kitchen cabinets and to install a ceiling fan and light fixture. On Tuesday Wendy got to spend an entire morning with her niece. Since Jodi had to work and Lyle was going out with another friend she was able to watch her niece for awhile. She had so much fun and so did Lindsay. The week went by fast and furious, but what fun we had visiting everyone.
